Lisa Stewart  // Honours Student 2024

I use a blend of both illustration and graphic design to create playful and engaging visuals across a wide range of contexts such as branding, education and entertainment.

Throughout my studies, I have observed assumptions that are made about youth versus maturity, but I have also recognised that my self-directed work is often inspired by my background and insight. Choosing to embrace my age and lived experiences, my major project is a visual history of the past forty years from a personal perspective. I have been considering my life and memories from growing up and living in Aberdeen while exploring popular culture and design trends. My dissertation on music graphics and popular culture has also inspired many elements of this work.

It has developed into an exploration of themes of identity and class but always with a focus on positivity. I want to tell stories, reminisce and make people smile. This theme allows me to experiment and create outcomes with playfulness, parody and humour.

Additional minor projects demonstrate versatility and a wider skillset. These projects are more client focussed and enhanced further interest in the areas of branding and marketing.
